75222 STAR WARS Betrayal at Cloud City

75222 STAR WARS Betrayal at Cloud City

There have been many amazing sets over the years, especially for STAR WARS, with its UCS line of sets. Today, I'll be reviewing 75222 STAR WARS Betrayal at Cloud City. It's a UCS, with 2812 pieces, and it's for 14+. Like I said before, this set is amazing! We get some medium-sized builds in this set, including the Slave I. So, in this set you get: Cloud City, Slave I, a Twin-Pod Cloud Car and 20 minifigures. The minifigures are: an Ugnaught, Lando Calrissian, Han Solo (with an exclusive leg piece), Hoth Princess Leia, Carbon-Freeze Chamber Han Solo, Darth Vader, Bespin Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, C-3PO, R2-D2 (I recently found out that LEGO treats R2 as a minifigure), IG-88, Lobot, Bespin Princess Leia, Chewbacca, 2 Bespin Guards, 2 stormtroopers and 2 Cloud Car pilots. You also get some studs for shooting.

For weapons, you get: a blue lightsaber, a red lightsaber, 4 blasters, 1 blaster pistol, a stud-launching bowcaster, an upgraded double-barreled blaster, a wrench (more of an accessory), 2 grey pistols, 2 silver blaster pistols and a rifle.

In this set, you get a great range of minifigures from the Original Trilogy, with a few exclusives thrown in to make it more appealing. I think the coolest guys you get in this set are the Cloud Pod pilots because of their helmets and torsos. They're really cool. Han Solo is the most sought after minifigure in this set because of his leg piece. But still, the original Greedo is sought after more, and his turquoise head is way cooler.

Here are the ships: Slave I and Twin-Pod Cloud Car. Their size is pretty cool since they're easier to carry around than the normal-sized models. The Twin-Pod Cloud Car is just a tiny bit smaller than the 2002 version, and also a little more cramped. Look! You can barely reach the minifigures! The Slave I looks great, especially since it doesn't use the usual techniques for the structure of the Slave I. It has some stud-shooters and a cockpit window that can swing up to provide access to the seating for Boba Fett. There is a landing pad on Cloud City for the Slave I or Cloud Car to land on.

Finally, I'm going to talk about the rooms. First, the landing pad. You can put your ship on there and it's pretty strong and steady, meaning that it won't collapse if you put a bigger ship on it. Secondly, the control and repair center. There's a space to put C-3PO on to pretend he's being repaired. The third room, the carbon-freezing chamber and Bespin Duel scene. It's a better deal to get 75137 Carbon-Freezing Chamber. You get Boba Fett, Han Solo and an Ugnaught in that set too! Finally, the leisurely hallways and lounges. There's a table to recreate the scene where Han gets captured at breakfast by Boba Fett and Darth Vader. There's also an opening so you can access the landing pad. Also, I forgot to say two things, there's a hatch at the bottom of Cloud City for Luke Skywalker to grab when he fell after his epic duel, and there's a space under the Slave I for the carbonite holding Han. This set is retired so the prices I give may not be correct.

This Betrayal at Cloud City starts at around $416 new and $366 used.
