31100 CREATOR Sports Car
The 31100 CREATOR Sports Car is a recent LEGO release, and a CREATOR set. I feel the need to review this to be fair to the CREATOR fans out there, including myself. This set comes with 134 pieces, which can be used to build either a sports car, a hot rod or a cargo plane. There are no minifigures included, which may be a downer for some people, but it's totally fine. The absence of minifigures does not stop this set from being great for both play and display.
The sports car is a beautiful model, with its extensive detail and sleek design. The spoiler is foldable, which allows this vehicle to quickly change looks, even if the only difference is the position of the spoiler. It rolls along quite nicely, mainly because of the wheels, which are rarely used elements in the world of LEGO. Maybe it's because of the popularity of the classic wheel part. But anyway, we have to continue.
Here is the second build you can make, and it is a hot rod. It's bursting with detail at the front, while the back is plain. It's certainly a great model to put on a shelf, with the perfect balance between simplicity and detail. Like the sports car, this hot rod rolls along smoothly because of the wheels. This set is special in the way that it has an option to build a hot rod, which isn't a common sight in the CREATOR theme. I'm really pleased that LEGO decided to include one of these this time around.
The final model is a cargo plane. The front of the aircraft really says it all about what it is, that lump on the top of the cockpit. This model is really strong thanks to the wing supports and extra plates to keep everything together. The tail is a really defining feature of this build, probably because of the plates at the sides. Here, the wheels that helped the other 2 builds move along so smoothly act as engines, which is really creative.
The wings are also important features as they really stick out among the other features of this set, and are unnecessarily long, which is pretty hilarious.
This Sports Car starts at around $9.99.
