60404 CITY Burger Truck

Image
As I said last article, I would do an article on the new burger truck set from LEGO, so now here I am doing that. It was a bit more overpriced than I initially assumed, so I wasn't too pleased but I guess it's okay. Anyway, before we get to the price, I want to just introduce the set. It's directed towards those 5 years old and up and included 194 pieces. The sole build is obviously a burger truck, or rather a burger van  because of its humble size with a big detachable burger housing the chef. Technically, the vehicle is just a flatbed van that carries a big hollow replica of the products its owners are selling. Anyway, the set, in terms of characters, is standard for these food truck sets from CITY: 2. There is the burger chef and then some random civilian who appears to be in tune with the local music scene (pun intended)      As you can see, there isn't too much to this set functionally (mostly aesthetics), and definitely nothing that w...

New Releases: The 100+ sets coming out this month

Image
Hello! Today is January 1st, so happy new year! A topic today which is more important than that though, is the release of more than 100 new sets across various themes including CITY, STAR WARS, NINJAGO, and CREATOR. It's a very exciting time for LEGO fans and so the company's online site will undoubtedly have heavy internet traffic for the next few days. Today, in this article, I want to cover a few of the new releases, sharing my thoughts and opinions. Here we go! 1. 80113 Family Reunion Celebration      This set is a Lunar New Year set that includes over 1800 pieces and 13 minifigures. The main build in the set is this traditional Chinese modular-looking building. I wouldn't be surprised if it indeed was compatible with the other modular structures.       The building has a pretty detailed interior with various rooms like the kitchen, dining room, restroom, and entrance, which go to show that this building is supposed to be a rest...

71780 NINJAGO Kai's Ninja Race Car EVO

Image
71780 NINJAGO Kai's Ninja Race Car EVO Happy New Year's Eve, everybody! (depending on your time zone, of course) I've been quite busy with other projects so I wasn't able to post this year. So sorry about that. Despite this, I made sure to be able to post one article to close the year. Today, I'll be reviewing one of the new NINJAGO sets, namely Kai's Ninja Race Car EVO. I was skeptical of these NINJAGO sets at first, but they have actually begun to impress me.  Anyway, this set includes 94 pieces (less than what I was expecting) and has one minifigure, namely Kai. The set is for 6+, in my opinion not because of the complexity of the build but because of the small pieces of which there are many in this kit. Here is the packaging with the image of the completed thing. Now, I don't care too much for the new box designs, but maybe it's because I just really miss NINJAGO Legacy. I mean, those sets were so cool. For a set to include themes and cha...

71770 NINJAGO Zane's Golden Dragon Jet

Image
71770 NINJAGO Zane's Golden Dragon Jet Ninjago is back with a slew of new summer sets! One of these is Zane's Golden Dragon Jet from the newest NINJAGO season, dubbed Crystalized. I'm really happy with the new wave because of the returning minifigures and the overall design of the sets. Anyway, let's dive into this review! This set includes 258 pieces, used to assemble a decent jet and 3 minifigures: Golden Zane, Golden Dragon Cole and General Vangelis (I guess he decided to lose the title of Skull Sorcerer). This set is for 7+.  This set is quite vibrant and in a way, nostalgic because of the throwback to season 13 of the show. I really am impressed with the minifig selection of this set, even if there are only three here. First, let's check out Vangelis. The torso and leg parts are so detailed. Although, I kinda think the bat wings and stuff look a bit odd paired with a clearly geode-inspired suit. But it's okay, because the character is still cool. The mask i...

21181 MINECRAFT The Rabbit Ranch

Image
21181 MINECRAFT The Rabbit Ranch Here's another MINECRAFT set that I have been pining for a while now. It's priced fairly and has a lot of little details like sunflowers, so this is definitely a kit that will meet the standards for many children and AFOLs. It's quite a change from the jumper-loaded sets just a year or two ago, but this phenomenon is explainable. Minecraft has undergone many changes over the years. 21181 MINECRAFT The Rabbit Ranch is a perfect example of this. Anyway, let's dive into this review. This set is for 8+ and contains 340 pieces to build a giant rabbit house, a small farm, some rabbits, and 2 minifigures. This is a great lot of stuff that you get here for the price, which is $29.99.  Here is the box, and let me say that this is probably one of the most accurate graphics on a LEGO set I have ever seen. This is  what you get.  Let's start off with the rabbit house. It's a really clean little build, and it houses a crafting table and a to...

LEGO to team up with Epic Games

Image
LEGO to team up with Epic Games Just a few days ago, LEGO announced that they were teaming up with Epic Games, the developer of the wildly popular game Fortnite, to create a metaverse for people of all ages to enjoy. This could lead to a new LEGO theme, brick-based additions to Fortnite, and other cool stuff. One thing to note: although these two giants are  planning the metaverse to be family-friendly, Epic's biggest asset, Fortnite, isn't. I'm not sure how this is gonna turn out, but one thing is for certain: there won't be much Fortnite involved. This is huge not just because of Epic but because of Epic's partnerships. STAR WARS, NBA, you name it, are a key part of Fortnite. If we do get Fortnite sets, there will probably be minifigs supposed to be characters from sponsorships. That means that John Wick, Stranger Things, Nike, Rocket League, Ghostbusters, Halo, The Walking Dead, G.I Joe, and much more will be appearing in these new kits. 'Metaverse' is b...

21324 IDEAS 123 Sesame Street

Image
21324 IDEAS 123 Sesame Street IDEAS has always been a wacky theme, and it got even more wacky when this Sesame Street set was released. It took me a while to get this review out, not just because I forgot that this set existed until close to its retirement, but because news of IDEAS sets is totally hidden by the next wave of normal LEGO sets, like CITY and STAR WARS. Also, because I just felt like doing a IDEAS review. As you can see, over the past few reviews, I've expanded to other themes besides CITY and NINJAGO. So, today I'll be reviewing 21324 IDEAS 123 Sesame Street.  This set is for 18+ and includes 1367 pieces which are used to assemble a chunk of Sesame Street and 5 minifigures, which are: Big Bird, Elmo, Ernie, Bert and Cookie Monster. Oscar the Grouch is also "included" in this set, but he's just a big ball with printing designed to look like his face atop a trash can, which is pretty hilarious.  Here is the whole thing, and it does actually look like...
