The LEGO City sets are probably the earliest releases of 2021. And they seem to be popular already. Some ToysRUs and LEGO store have them. The wave includes several sets from last year, but there are lots of new, exciting and good sets. The catalogue for 2021(1-5) shows that some new sets will be very cheap. For example, the 60285 Sports Car is one of these sets. The 60284 Roadwork Truck is also one of these. The boxes are very small and the sets have 55 to 90 pieces. 

The big sets include an old set, it used to be exclusive but now it's available to everyone, the 60271 Main Square. It's big for a City set, but it's actually a better deal then a medium-sized STAR WARS set. There are some great police sets this year, with the 60277 Police Patrol Boat, the 60276 Police Prisoner Transport and the 60139 Police Mobile Command Center. We haven't had one of these in years, so it's nice to see a new one. 

Fire sets are extraordinary this year. 4 fire sets have been released so far, and I hope we see more in the next few weeks. The first one is 60281 Fire Rescue Helicopter. It is a nice addition to the collection of City helicopters, but just like NINJAGO vehicles and dragons, it gets old. Clemmons comes in this set so I think if people want him but don't get the 60247 Forest Fire, then they'll get this set. The next set is 60279 Fire Hazard Truck, one of the cheap sets. This set includes a firefighter with a new helmet mold. It makes sitting firefighters down in small spaces easier since there is no tail on the end of the helmet. It really is an improvement. The third set is 60280 Fire Ladder Truck. It's a Juniors set but it's actually quite complex compared to other Juniors sets with only a few big parts. It includes Freya McCloud with her firefighter suit and some new fire parts, they're actually more like border or wall pieces instead of fire pieces.

The last set is 60282 Fire Command Unit. It's the first of it's kind and the most spacious fire truck we have ever gotten. There is a burning lab with some kind of precious material and an remote-controlled ATV of some sort with a big water cannon on the top. The trailer of the truck is very large with a space for the ATV and a little control room in the middle. In the front, there is the truck with numerous details. The truck is built in a new style which I like, and it is built with some different pieces than usual. The LEGO City Adventures characters are Feldman and Bob. The new firefighter parts are in this set as well.

There are some new sets that aren't part of the main focus of the wave but are still awesome. The 60286 Beach Rescue ATV, which is another one of the cheap sets, is one of these. There are also 60287 Tractor, 60288 Race Buggy Transporter, 60283 Holiday Camper Van and 60289 Airshow Jet Transporter.
